Senior Lecturer in Advertising and Public Relations @ QUT
Teaching.
I am an industry-focused educator. I develop real-world authentic assessments that require students to undergo the same “thinking” and “doing” as industry practitioners to mirror their everyday practices. I acknowledge that students are driven by assessments and performance, so I always develop the assessment guides and rubrics to be in line with industry practices before I develop the lecture and tutorial content. To keep up with the rapid developments of the industry, I update the assessment guides and teaching content in accordance with the latest cases and industry practices published in industry news outlets.
I consult and engage with a variety of stakeholders, including learning designers, colleagues within the school, industry partners, industry tutors and former and current students, to inform my teaching designs. I have also developed ongoing relationships with industry experts from prominent agencies, as my industry partners in teaching. This stakeholder-led approach, which I consistently carry out every semester, has contributed to positive outcomes, including sustained improvements in teaching evaluations.

I am a member of two communities of practice on teaching. I undertake regular training and reflections to improve my teaching practices, including the following:
